The installer checks the condition of your paint.
You choose which parts of the car will get PPF (full front, full car, high-impact areas like hood, fenders, mirrors, etc.). Film options are discussed (brands, gloss vs. matte, self-healing, ceramic-coated, etc.).
Car is washed thoroughly to remove dirt. Iron fallout remover and clay bar treatment are often used to get rid of deep contaminants in the paint.
If the paint has swirls, scratches, or oxidation, a paint correction (machine polish) is done. This ensures the paint underneath the PPF is flawless.
Final cleaning with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or a special prep solution to remove oils and polish residue. This step ensures the PPF will adhere perfectly.
Pre-cut film (using software and plotter) or hand-trimmed. Applied with a slip solution (soap + water mix) to allow repositioning. A squeegee is used to remove the solution and bond the film to the surface.Edges may be wrapped for a cleaner, nearly invisible install.
The film is inspected for bubbles, stretch marks, or lift. The car may sit overnight or under heat lamps to help the film settle and cure.Installers often recheck edges after 24 hours.
Avoid washing the car for 5–7 days. No waxing or ceramic coating for at least a week (unless it’s a coated film). After that, regular washing is fine. Use PPF-safe products.
